Exceptional service by Dave. When I contacted him the first time, he was on his vacation but still spent time talking to me over the phone, understanding my needs and offered to have someone else in the area to come and inspect if time was sensitive to purchase a vehicle. That's when I decided he will be my go-to. Luckily, after a few week's time of hunting to purchase a used car from private party, Dave himself was available. What followed in the events of leading up to buying a great reliable car simply blows my mind whenever I think about it. Dave went out of the way in every step, offered expert advice and insights to help make a good decision over the options I had, helped me avoid a car that would have cost me a fortune in a potential CVT repair, recommended he takes a look at another vehicle which had cleaner history plus reputation and was flexible with timing to fix an appointment with the private party. I've had 3 vehicles inspected by Dave. Total cost of inspections was about 400, but across the 3 (not including one which I didn't buy which would have needed 5000 in repairs!) It was my first time buying a vehicle, and he was incredibly helpful accommodating my needs every step of the way. I had signed a contract to buy a Ford Econoline, giving me a 72-hour window to get a mechanical inspection that was voided if the mechanic found any issues. Dave found several issues well within the 72 hour window, so I called the used car dealership, but they would not budge on voiding the contract. This is where Dave really went above and beyond what any mechanic could be expected to do. He guided me through the ordeal, wrote legal documents proving damage to the used vehicle, and I got the resolution I was looking for.

I hired this inspector because I live 200 miles from the car I was to purchase. He did his job in driving the car and checking it for obvious flaws. One suggestion I would have is that he could have printed out the ad and checked that against the vehicle. The ad listed a backup camera which the car turned out not to have. Also there was a"service required" notice on the car, he said they needed to check it out. Turned out the phone module was bad... all this I found out only after traveling 200 miles with my infant. He should have figured that out by just trying to see if the on call button worked... hopefully those will be the only surprised problems I will encounter. Seemed like a lot to pay to have someone test drive a car.

I read the reviews, called Dave of Pacific Mechanical Inspections, and asked him to inspect a vehicle I saw on eBay. I lived in the opposite coast, therefore there was no other way to inspect the car before the auction ended

Dave was recuperating so he asked a colleague to call the owner, make an appointment, and inform the owner of all the systems he would like to check on the car aside from the exterior and interior cosmetics as far as their faithfulness to the pictures

Within a hour the car disappeared from eBay claiming it was sold even as there were still 4 days left on the " buy it now price." ( the bid before the ad disappeared was only 40% of the Buy-it-Now price.)

You draw your own conclusions. Not only are pre-inspections mandatory but finding those in the business with the experience to focus on the particular quirks of a car, it's series, it's age is priceless

The fee I was charged was a pittance of what I would have had to fork out had I made the mistake of trusting the description and the pictures of the car

PMI did a terrific job. I've always had used cars inspected before I bought them, but it was always something I did during the test drive and scheduling and waiting were always a total hassle. Dave suggested that I let him check out a car I found online before I ever saw it, which was a hundred times more convenient than doing it the old way - and this way he could check the car out while it was cold, giving him better information. I was looking to get an inspection on a car from a private seller that I had already looked at and tested out myself. I called Dave in the morning, and we were able to schedule an inspection for the same day in the afternoon. However, when Dave got to the seller's house, the seller and car were nowhere to be found. Dave called me to find out what was going on, so I called the seller who unfortunately told me that he had literally just sold the car at that moment. I called Dave back and told him I was sorry there was no car for him to look at, and I told him to charge me for his time (he probably waited about an hour for the seller to show up). But Dave was completely understanding, told me this situation was probably a blessing in disguise because you don't want to deal with a shady person like this seller, and told me he would hold off on charging me until I could find another car for him to look at!

My wife and I were in the market for a second car and though we knew exactly what brand we wanted, we were a bit worried about entering the used car salesman vortex. Luckily we found Dave. Automotive Angel! one of the best investments we have made in our transportation was hiring Dave.

In a world where there are experts, hobbyists and suckers/imbeciles, we would fit in the latter categories for used car machinery. Dave was incredibly helpful in pre-screening and test-driving a number of used MDX's, saving us a ton of time while we were out of town and the kids were napping/sleeping.

He recommended against a few with major transmission issues (probably saving us $2-3k) and ultimately steered us towards the one that fit us best. He gave us a list of items to negotiate: tires, extended warranty margins, scratches and cleaning...and we ended up in and out of the broker (AutoConnections East, also recommended) in under 30 minutes and significantly under asking price!

Dave provides a great service for anyone looking to buy a used car! I called him on a Friday evening and he was able to meet me the very next morning at a dealership to inspect a 2005 Volvo for me. He was very thorough and focused his efforts on items that could be costly to repair which for Volvos can be the transmission. From what I can tell he has a ton of experience inspecting car models from all manufacturers. During my inspection he found a couple small items that required fixing before I purchased the vehicle, one of which was a small crack in the tail light lens cover which would have allowed water in and cost a few hundred dollars to replace.

Overall I was very pleased. He even gave me recommendations for talking points to help negotiate down the price and the scoop on a reasonable price for the additional warranty package if I wanted it. I will definitely use him again for future vehicle purchases!
